Part 4 – Low Back Pain

Low back pain is a very common presentation in the clinic. Low back pain can be short term, or it can be a persisting problem over many years.

Low back pain is common across different populations including athletes. Sports with a high prevalence of low back pain include Crossfit, weight lifting, snow sports and contact sports.

Often we hear that to prevent low back pain we need to have a strong core. However as health professionals we understand that pain is multifactorial, and there are many factors that need to be considered. A thorough assessment of low back pain will consider all the biological, contextual and psychological factors that may be contributing to pain.
